Research of current entrepreneurial activities in the Czech Republic, capturing their changes in the recent years and international comparison using GEM method

Description: Suggesting, based on gathered information and performed analyses, improvements for the support of entrepreneurial activities and innovation through the set-up of suitable tools and targeted support for entrepreneurs in relation to upcoming support programs of Ministry of Industry and Trade and other providers. The part of work is performing analyses of entrepreneurial activity in the Czech Republic using the GEM method. Analysis of entrepreneurial activity development and international comparison. Obtaining data and information about the topics of social entrepreneurship, firm succesion, support of export, support in lowering energy intensity, design, and innovation sources.

Innovation Evaluation

Time of realization: 2014 – 2015

Description: The aim of the project is to develop a methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of innovation for business and non-profit sector. Research will be done on the topic of current knowledge evaluation of innovation at the international level, as well as qualitative research through in-depth interviews with experts. The final methodology will be in a text format, as well as software interface. Two subjects have confirmed interest in the results of the project – MIT and Czech Top 100 Association.

Innovations and Their Impact on The Organizational Sustainable Growth

Desription: The project focused on analysing and quantitative evaluation of innovation effects on sustainable business growth. Innovative managerial approaches to productivity and business value control in chemistry industry were analysed. The base for effective business value control in organizations is the ability to measure the contribution of innovations. Following this need several approaches to solving these problems were formulated. Applying innovative approaches in strategy management was an important aspect. The scanario approahces to strategy management in investment projects were analysed in  this context. These issues were interconnected with modeling effective project portfolio by application both deterministic and stochastic approaches. Other strategy management tools were analysed too, such as Balanced Scorecard. Besides that Corporate Social Responsibility, knowledge management and innovative organizational structures were researched too.

Explaining the causes of success and failure in the process of start-up and early growth of new firms in the Czech Republic

Desription: Longitudinal studies of early-stage entrepreneurial activity help us understand the causal effects of a variety of factors influencing the future outcomes of this activity. The aim of the project was to analyse various factors influencing birth and discontinuance of nascent and early-stage entrepreneurial activity. We gathered the data from 371 early-stage entrepreneurs that were first captured in the frame of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor project in 2011 and 2013. Entrepreneurs were interviewed in three to four subsequent waves in between 2012 and 2015 and asked questions regarding their entrepreneurial activity and its outcomes. We employed regression analyses to analyse the effects of various factors influencing outcomes of early-stage entrepreneurial activity.

Outcomes: Several academic papers based on this project were published in journals with impact factor (Politická ekonomie, Ekonomický časopis, Prague Economic Papers) and presented at several important international conferences such as IECER 2014, ICAP 2014, MSED 2015, ICP 2016 and others.

Regional Culture in the Context of SMEs

Description: The aim fo this project was to analyse relations between entrepreneurs and local culture on the basis of identifiaction and outlining specifics of regional and local culture and also analysis of entrepreneurial environment and its functions within the region; next to identify anad outline the key tools of local municipalities for shaping the regional culture and entrepreneurial environment; and based on generalization to set recommendations for other similar regions.
Field research in the Broumov Region in the Czech republic was made. Field research was made in abroad too – similar boaredr regions in countries with similar historical develoment during the comunism and post-communism era, similar cultural-historical potencial and similar size were chosen. The Broumov (Czech), Zittau (Germany) and Klodzsko (Poland) were visited. Contacts with people responsible for culture in the town and reagion on the municipality level were made.
To make a comparing research of state before and after local municipality elections in Broumov focusing on possible changes in cultural politic conception of new municipal governemnt was the aim.
