Financial Management as the Entrepreneur’s Compass

As part of the 3PO101 Introduction to Entrepreneurship course, students had the opportunity to welcome Václav Nedvídek, founder of My Value Officer. His lecture focused on what it truly means to manage a business “by the numbers” – with a clear plan and the ability to make informed decisions. Students learned how a financial plan helps forecast business development, align the expectations of owners and creditors, and evaluate the return on new ideas.

The discussion addressed key growth barriers such as limited cash flow, lack of customers, and challenges in hiring skilled employees. Václav emphasized the importance of metrics like CAC, LTV, EBITDA, and churn, explaining how to interpret and apply them effectively. Students walked away with practical insights on how to build a financial plan that serves not just as a spreadsheet, but as a strategic tool for business success.

Key takeaway: Don’t run your business on the feeling – use data and plan based on reality, not wishful thinking.

A big thank you to Václav for the valuable tips and real-world examples. We look forward to welcoming him again!
